In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and other particles. The counter-rotating rubber brush roll kept the debris in one location instead of scattering it around the floor. The j7+, while not as smart as the $1,217 Roomba S9and Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and it isn't able to clean the stairs, it's an excellent choice for those who need both mopping and vacuum. It's not expensive, and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it is sometimes difficult to determine if they are working until you actually see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, the best choice is probably a hybrid. This kind of robot usually includes a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your house simultaneously. These bots also have various additional features, including smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. They're costly at full retail but often are reduced on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock produces some of our favorite robotic vacuums, and the Q5+ does not perform to the standards. It's their most affordable auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with certain features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great option if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save hundreds of dollars.

The Q5+ is remarkably gentle when it comes to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it an excellent choice for homes that have many furniture pieces. It's also extremely thorough in removing dust bunnies. This is a place where many cheaper robot vacuums aren't able to meet. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is excellent and has very few missing in corners and along walls.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled by a few buttons on the device itself or through the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, create virtual barrier and no-go areas, adjust your home map, or re-label rooms.

If you choose the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock, designed to make this robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once in place emptying the bin can be done with relative ease. It features a large LCD screen, which is useful for setting up schedules or adjusting settings. This feature isn't necessary for most people but it can help you to keep the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design is one of the most innovative in the market however it's quite expensive.

The base station looks nice and is hidden when it's not in use, and its size is relatively compact. The main reason to buy the station is that it can automate many tasks, chores and functions that other robots would leave to you. It can store dirty and clean water and electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require you to do this.

Its vacuuming is also impressive. It's the only robot vacuum I've tested that does an excellent job of removing debris from bare floors. And it's not as loud as the expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially when it comes navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robotvacs. This means it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain corners or rooms in the house. It can't navigate stairs as well as some competitors, for instance and it doesn't have an dock that allows you to create an exclusive cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent option for those looking for a robot vacuum bot that does it all.

But if you want to save some money, or just don't care about the limitations of this robot there are many other options available with a wide range of eufy models that cost substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance, is cheaper and offers an identical experience on the app with additional features such as stairs, a fully-function dock, and better overall vacuuming performance on bare floors and low and high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that offer the perfect balance of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpeted flooring, and a mopping function for a low cost. It's easy to set it up, simply connect one of the side brushes and turn it on, then connect the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. The dock will need to be placed near an outlet with enough space to move.
