WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
